Hi all,
We are almost at the end of 2010 A very happy new year to all. I have created this special forum category for having your suggestions and comments regarding how we can make this website more relevant and useful to you. It can be anything - a way to increase the usability, a method to increase the participation, request for content or something you dislike.
Please create a new post for your suggestions so that we can deal and discuss with each of them individually.

Being a junior member and a fresh MD pass out i personally feel that along with the case discussion we can discuss some basic topics like radiobiology and treatment planning related topics eg planning of chest wall or partial/ whole breast irradiation , SCF fields , CSI , IMRT of head and neck . Brachytherapy , various types of applications , breast implants , icrt i.e mostly the practical issues we encounter in our day to day practice, and basic questions of radiobiology like one question is disturbing me is why -5% and +7% of prescpition dose coverage is considered acceptable by ICRU . we are all concerned about checking 95% coverage but from where this 95% concept came? I mean what is the radiobiological experiment that evolved this value? If we want participations from JRs i think we should also discuss these basic things and most importantly delineation issues ,different departmental protocols ( as we know it varies ).Case discussion is good thing but mostly we discuss about rare conditions , and from the feedback i got from one of my juniors is we need to cover the most common topics also. There is one disadvantage of this is that the quality of the forum may deteriorate .In that case we can have separate categories for comparatively basic topics and advanced one . We may do it in a group and someone of us can start discussing planning of head& neck and others will add on that . We can use figures to explain , in a way we will be able to cover all the sites. I am not talking about the theory but only the treatment planning , mainly simulation and plan evaluation.Can we have ppt or pdf presentations ?

Excellent idea!!

1) The ICRU prescription can be discussed separately and so can the delineation guidelines. You can start off a thread elsewhere under relevant headings.

2) You can have pdf/ppt presentations; sign up for any of the web site like docstoc/scribd/slideshare. You can upload the pdf/ppt on anyone of them and link here. It would be accessible to all and can foster discussion accordingly.

3) As for the basic/advanced, of what I know of being here for the past few months, everything is accorded equal importance. If you feel that there is anything that needs to be discussed, feel free to post!

Ultimately it is your participation across board. Welcome and happy new year!

hi
i think as treating and the cure is important, so is the toxicity. there is a lot coming up in literature for that both in terms of acute and late toxicity. different scales, management strategy, local dose acceptances and practices, dvh correlations (especially in world of image guidance) Quantac…..
may be when we discuss any site the end note should seriously include where we stand in these parameters-like what we know, what is assumed and what more is to be searched/researched.

Very good Rahul. Couple of things :

1. We are not the most knowledgeable ROs on the planet
2. We cant devote all our time to isocentre.

At the present most of posting is done by a handful of people. Unless young ROs like you contribute this group cant flourish.

May be you can start discussion on various site wise toxicity issues. Everyone can share there knowledge and learn from each other.
