All Users should know that Isocenter is going to move. You will receive an email notification detailing what to expect. The move will begin at Saturday night 10 PM IST. All users will start receiving their new usernames and passwords along with detailed instructions on their email. Please make sure you check your spam / junk mail folder if you donot receive your email as it will come from admin AT isocenter.org
New discussions started since the last week will be ported over to the new isocenter.

New Isocenter and user migration

Hi Guys,
The new Isocentre is ready. Thanks to all beta testers we got some really good feedback and were able to catch several errors in time. We will be migrating the entire user database over the next few days and all users will be getting a email after their account has been automatically registered on the isocenter.
Once again you wont have to register .. however since we are not aware of the password that you use on this wikidot based site we are forced to allocate a new randomly generated password during the registration process which will be emailed to you. Registration will be done in alphabetical order ( A —- Z) based on first name.
The login process in the new site is much more simplified..
Hoping to see everyone of you on board shortly
P.S. To all beta testers the beta testing site should not be used any longer.

A new Isocentre and call for beta testers

Hi all,
Earlier this year we overhauled the appearance of isocentre and made it more simple for everyone to join in the content creation process. At that time the admins (me, nikhilesh, indranil, ayan, pramod and abhishek) had felt that the present way isocentre is being run is limited. There are two main issues that we face in terms of day to day running.

Our user database is not under our direct control - so essentially when our users register we dont know them .. the present two step process was designed to let us know who registered when. Over the past four months we have seen a steady increase in readership and without a dedicated membership drive we are now averaging 4-5 new members each month (no twitter / facebook but not bad)
The content is scattered and not accessible : The forum based structure is not really helping matters here - plus the content is being placed on an external wiki hosting system called wikidot. While wikidot people are great we have no way of controlling the actual data.

There are other major issues I will highlight but to come to the point we had decided to see if we could move isocentre to a completely new way of managing information and add more value to it so people come back and take a look. The way to go about this was to bring in what is called a content management system. Yes a heavy word but in the end what it means is a way of managing all the little blurbs of information that is being put in various way and structuring it so that finding it and displaying it for you becomes easier and more intuitive. Over the past 3 months I and abhishek (who goes by radtuxabhishek) have been working to make this migration possible. However before we shift isocentre to this new system we need your feedback and for that we need few intrepid oncologists who are not afraid to tread new ground. Your work would be to stress test the news system and tell us what is missing and what you would like to see. Indicate your interests below and we will send u the link.

Isocentre is your community and we have lots of new things in the new version. So please help us help you. It has no risk for you essentially.

Results of Poll for the 2nd Contouring Session

Hi people,
The votes are in for the poll which is closed today. Here are the stats.

21 unique responses ( overall 27 - 6 duplicates.)
Brachial Plexus wins with 11 votes
Supraglottic Larynx comes last with 2 votes.

We take your suggestions and will have the following contouring sessions in sequence:

Brachial Plexus
Oropharynx
Supraglottic Larynx
Nasopharynx (as suggested by someone).

Each session will be held at 2 weeks interval starting from this weekend. As usual they will be hosted on a separate page and links will be announced here. We have to use Scribblar for the present moment so if you have queries regarding the system please post them here and we will try to help you to the best of our abilities. Unfortunately we need flash, a decent internet connection and a relatively good browser (would strongly suggest chrome, firefox and opera .. please remember if you have Internet Explorer 6 or 7 they wont be working). Keeping in mind adjuvants suggestion I will be contouring on one side only to show you my reference. However please remember you are free to add your corrections and suggestions.

We understand that for most people posting on a wiki seems to be intimidating. This has partly to do with the fact that some content is difficult to create on a wiki for a person who doesnot know about wiki syntax. However help is at hand. At Isocentre there are lots of resources in the help sections if you are interested in learning how to add new content. In essence if you can post on the forum you can create a content.

In order to work further on the site so that we can improve it further your input is valuable. Please consider participating in this survey so we can know your preferences better.

Create your Bio Page

Isocentre is a site made for you and we believe as young ROs your work should be highlighted in the community. Your ideas and thought are important and the best place to document it is now at the new Biographies section.

At the top bar menu click on Join Isocentre and go to Member Bios. The page will open in a new window. In this page there is a box at the right. Enter the name you want to be known as (we would like a first name if possible) and click on the "Create Your Bio page Button".

For those of you who dont know the wiki writing syntax dont worry. Clicking on the button will prompt you to create a new page and you shold be seeing a box where you can type in the things you want.
The edit box by default comes with a template for those not experienced the wiki syntax. So just fill in the details as per the template and your shiny new page will be ready for all to see. Remember you dont need to do it in a single day and you can edit it any time you want for more content. Creating your bio page is a great way to get a hang of writing stuff in the wiki pages and no matter what you do you cant mess up the site. For those experienced in the wiki writing creating an innovative and eye catching profile is a snap

Remember we have a stricter setting for the bio pages which means non members will not be able to see the page you create and only you can edit your own page.

Contouring Practice Session

Hi all,
As several of you have requested that we have live contouring sessions on the website. I think this is a great idea. If sufficient people agree we can start off with something simple like middle and inner ear conturing. It wont be exactly an eclipse or an advantage sim experience but the main concepts should come out easily. I will only work on it if 10 or so people agree and weekends would be the best time. The sessions can be hosted real time if we can agree on a specific time and should require little more than a visit to the website.

Do tell me if you are interested below and we can kick off the first session this weekend.

Email and Contact lIst updates

Hi Guys,
Amongst the several changes done during the new year has been migration of the user database to a mailing list system that allows us a lot of customisation than the old email notification allowed. This system allows you to select the mail frequency you want - daily, weekly and monthly and you will receive email updates addressed to you personally.
The contact details of several people are out of date and we have included a new way of updating your contact details. Today an email has been sent out which has an unique identifier link meant exclusively for you. Just click on the link and fill in the details in the form and voila you are done.
This update link will be available in each future mail we send out.
However it is important to note that some users have found that the email may reach the spam folder. Please do ensure you have our email address contact.isocentre at gmail.com added to your contact list so that you can get email updates as you want.
