Nikhilesh,

The debate i believe in this risk group is whether EBRT + Brachy is superior to EBRT alone or Brachy alone.

1. Hoskin et al have already shown in Ph 3 trial, that EBRT + Brachy boost is superior to RT alone.
http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=19038384

2. The RTOG 0232 are proposing to prove that EBRT + Brachy alone is gnna be superior to Brachy alone.
If you look at their statistcal proposotion they beleive EBRT plus interstitial brachytherapy will improve a FFP rate at 5 years
compared to interstitial brachytherapy alone by 10% with an α value of 0.025 (one-sided), statistical power of 90%.

This trial is gonna be controversial as Brachy alone is being used here as the std arm
and the experimental arm is EBRT + Brachy which allows IMRT as well as 3DCRT.

Iam aware of RTOG 0232 study http://rtog.org/members/protocols/0232/0232.pdf which is looking at this question.
Your comments are welcome
Nikhilesh
